The model for turbulent drag reduction in dilute polymer solutions developed by Darby and Chang (1984), and modified by Darby et al. (1989) has been further refined to significantly improve its ability to represent data for a variety of polymer solutions over a wide range of conditions. It is also shown how the rheological parameters in the model can be obtained from two or three data points for turbulent flow, in lieu of laminar viscometric measurements. This technique is applied to a wide variety of turbulent drag reduction data taken from the literature to demonstrate the general applicability of the model. The model is also shown to be consistent with Virk's maximum drag reduction asymptote (Virk, 1975) in the high Reynolds number limit.
