The dynamics of adsorptive reactors, in which the coupling of nonlinear Langmuir adsorption with zero order reaction A → B occurs, is considered. The method of characteristics is used to develop, analytically, the responses of fixed bed (plug flow) adsorber/reactors to step, pulse or Dirac inputs of reactant A . An increase in the breakthrough time of the column is observed as a consequence of the coupling of both phenomena. The responses of CSTR adsorber/reactors to step or Dirac inputs of reactant A are derived, as well. A method for the determination of equilibrium and kinetic parameters is proposed.
