The influence of feed composition cycling on the activity and selectivity of the Fischer‐Tropsch synthesis over an alumina‐supported ruthenium catalyst was investigated using a fixed‐bed reactor at 211°C and 446 kPa total pressure. Forced composition cycling suppressed the overall synthesis rate but increased the rates of formation of the C 1 to C 4 paraffins and shifted the paraffin/olefin ratio.
