This Note discusses the problems associated with analysing drying curves during the falling rate period. Attempts at fitting the drying curves with purely exponential or polynomial relations to find empirical solutions have not always been satisfactory. In this context, a novel curve fitting technique is suggested. This technique, while ensuring the condition of maximum drying rate at the critical point, helps to depict the true trend of drying, agreeing very closely with experimental results. The technique uses an iterative computer program and yields a 99.9% fit as per chi‐square test.
