Leung and Wiles (1976) proposed a quantitative procedure to calculate the maximum flowrate or “choking load” of solids which can be conveyed by a gas flowing at a given velocity in a vertical pneumatic transport line. However, no simple way of solving their equations was given by them. A new calculation method is proposed here to solve their equations to obtain the choking load of multisize particles.
