Using existing thermodynamic information predominance area diagrams were reconstructed for the Fe‐S‐O system. Isobar lines of constant total pressures of species in the vapor phase and the isopleths of constant O/S atomic ratios were added to the diagrams by solving multi‐component equilibria. The diagrams were constructed at temperatures typical of pyrometallurgical roasting operations and the present roasting practice was examined critically using these modified diagrams.
