This note points out the importance of incorporating thermodynamic constraints in phenomenological models of cyclic reaction networks. We present a case study where the parameters of the postulated model are estimated with and without the necessary constraints, and show that ignoring the constraints can cause thermodynamically inconsistent parametric estimates.
