Pseudo first order kinetic constants for the exchange of deuterium between hydrogen and aminomethane were determined from measurements of the rates of absorption of hydrogen deuteride into liquid aminomethane flowing over a sphere. Potassium methylamide dissolved in the amine catalyzed the reaction. Kinetic constants range from 130 to 650 sec −1 at temperatures from —30° to —10°C and catalyst concentrations of 4.95 to 15.8 g K/kg amine.
