Abstract Using a novel reactor configuration, the nonuniformity of a poison in a single catalyst pellet was studied. The activity of an n‐alumina supported catalyst containing 0.25% platinum was measured using the cyclopropane hydrogenolysis reaction. The results show that the catalyst is progressively poisoned from the outside of the catalyst to the center plane nonuniformly. The data suggest a bimodal pore size distribution in the pellet.
