An analysis of the distinct wave pattern of the vapor layer formation around a cylindrical heater element during film boiling yields a method to correlate the heat transfer coefficients in terms of the break‐off diameter of the bubble, frequency of the bubble emission, wave length (spacing of the bubbles) and other physical properties of the fluid.
