Europe as Location for the Chemical Industry – Challenges and Strategies . During Achema '94 visitors were invited to attend a number of panel discussions. One of these addressed the subject of Europe as a location for the chemical industry. The highly topical nature of this subject matter and the consequences for each one of us if the attractiveness of Europe for the chemical industry continues to wane were reasons enough for Chemie Ingenieur Technik to publish the main content of this discussion. Participants in the discussion were Dr. Uwe‐Ernst Bufe , Degussa AG, Frankfurt, Dr. Markus Altwegg , Hoffmann‐La Roche, Basel, Dr. Wolfgang Schultze , of the Labour Organisation IG Chemie Papier Keramik, Hannover, Dr. Ernst Schadow , Hoechst AG, Frankfurt. The discussion was mediated and chaired by Hans‐Wolfgang Pfeifer of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Group.
