Abstract Functions of production logistics in process engineering. This article demonstrates the evolution of individually developed production‐management systems to a computerized standard information system for the production‐management level. The goal is to introduce this system company wide with in a large enterprise of chemical industry. Preconditions are uniform infrastructure of company data and the economic development and maintainance of the software. It is explained why from the viewpoint of production logistics all parts of the modular system have to be open within themselves and in connections with the corporate‐management level (sales oriented logistics) and the process‐management level.
