Properties of materials in hydrogen . The various kinds of damage to metallic materials of construction induced by hydrogen are described and their effects illustrated. A detailed account is given of the individual processes leading to the adsorption and absorption of diffusable atomic hydrogen and also of the various damage mechanisms, such as embrittlement, hydride formation, blistering and cracking, delayed rupture, and stress corrosion.
