Advantages of parallel flow streams in distillation, absorption, and extraction . Under certain circumstances, separating effects in distillation, absorption, and extraction processes can be improved by dividing a phase into several parallel streams. Number of trays, pressure drop, vessel weight, or energy demand can be reduced. Presumably, this principle is also applicable in other counter‐current processes.
