Safety aspects in the planning and construction of chemical plants . Pre‐requisites for the construction of a “safe plant” are reliable documentation, practicable laws and regulations, and systematic working by experienced specialists during the planning and implementation stages of a project. During the phase when the concept is being established, comprehensive data must be available on all the materials and their reactions. Already at this stage, safety aspects of importance under a wide range of operating conditions are taken into account by all the specialists in close collaboration. During the detailed planning and project implementation stages, safety criteria for individual components are drawn up and compiled. During the final safety discussions, all aspects relating to safety are systematically checked. During the construction and assembly phases, the execution of the safety concept established is supervised at a wide variety of different stages during internal and external inspections.
