Lithium‐containing hydrides and some derivatives are mainly used in synthetic chemistry for the selective reduction of functional groups. Hydrogen storage applications of complex Li hydrides and reactive mixtures with other metal hydrides or amides have been investigated thoroughly, but practical applications are hampered due to limited reversibility and unfavorable conditions for the sorption and desorption of hydrogen. In the field of electrochemical energy storage, complex Li‐containing hydrides are investigated as Li‐ion‐conducting materials and as active materials for anodes of non‐aqueous batteries.
