This study identified bacterial strains present on 1000‐Yen notes that circulated in a hospital environment. The paper currency is an important means of bacterial transmission that may potentially spread drug‐resistant bacteria. We emphasize the importance of hand hygiene, especially handwashing, in order to protect you and people from infection.
