Polyoxometalate (POM)‐based nanomaterials that are functionalized with and/or have encapsulated organic structures have been demonstrated to have promising potential to combat against cancer regarding early diagnosis and effective therapy owing to their inherent elemental composition, structural stability, good biocompatibility and feasibility to modification. In this contribution, the latest achievement of POM‐based nanomaterials in cancer diagnosis and therapeutics are highlighted to put forward our fundamental viewpoints on the design principles of modified POMs based on their application. The recent advances reported in the Minireview by Na Li, Bo Tang and co‐workers provide a promising guideline for cancer theranostics of POM‐based hybrid nanomaterials.
