In the cellular environment , lipidated proteins regulate important signal pathways, thus analysis of lipidated protein is of significance to comprehend cellular programs. Also, lipid–protein conjugates have been designed for decoration of a lipid bilayer carrier with a protein in drug‐delivery systems. Therefore, artificial lipidation techniques of proteins have been in the spotlight, and various techniques have been proposed up to date. The development of chemical and enzymatic synthetic strategies for lipid–protein conjugation are discussed in the Minireview by M. Takahara and N. Kamiya on page 4645 ff.
