Using sequential allylic alkylation reactions to couple a dual electrophile with a dual nucleophile is a powerful way of constructing ring systems. This strategy, which can generate complex, polycyclic products from simple starting materials, has seen widespread use in the synthesis of natural products and pharmaceuticals.
