A hydrogen‐production system by light‐induced α‐FeOOH has been successfully established. α‐FeOOH, known as rust, produces hydrogen and decompose organic compounds by a photocatalytic reaction under specific conditions even though the conduction band edge of α‐FeOOH is lower than the reduction potential of protons. Its activity is 25 times more active than TiO 2 . The proposed reaction can realize the production of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source and the purification of organic pollutants at the same time.
