Like two dancers on stage , the anion and cation of an ionic liquid (IL) interact with each other, each one contributing its own properties. With the combination of a 1‐aryl‐3‐alkyl‐imidazolium‐based cation (TAAIL) and the dicyanamide anion, the authors were able to expand the electrochemical window of these ILs. Furthermore, a compound was synthetized that is able to repeatedly extract transition metals from aqueous solutions. For more details see the Full Paper by T. Strassner et al. on page 16251 ff.
