The importance of natural products and their use in the field of drug discovery has become irrefutable over the last years. Significant efforts have been focused on the design of short, efficient and scalable approaches towards the organic synthesis of these complex compounds. The Minireview by L. W. Hernandez and D. Sarlah on page 13248 ff. outlines a fraction of recent examples of practical total syntheses in which emphasis was given to quality and quantity.
