HCN polymers are a group of complex and heterogeneous substances that, being widely known in astrobiology, they have recently received considerable attention as a new generation of high‐performance coatings and adhesives with biomedical applications. In this study, we explore different synthesis conditions for the production of HCN polymers from NH 4 CN or diaminomaleonitrile (DAMN) in aqueous media. Using a systematic methodology, both sets of polymeric series were shown to present similar but not identical spectroscopic and thermal fingerprints, resulting in a clear differentiation of their morphology and electrochemical behaviour. New macrostructures are proposed for this singular polymer, and promising insights are discussed for prebiotic chemistry and materials science based on the experimental results here described.
