In organic synthesis , the electrochemical approach is distinctive because of its redox tunability and the fact that electrodes serve as the direct oxidants and reductants, thus eliminating the use of chemical oxidants/reductants. The latter feature has gained significant green credentials, echoing the increasing demands toward sustainable and environmentally benign chemical synthesis. In their Concept article on page 10033 ff., Luo et al. provide readers with the general concepts and perspectives of chiral electrochemical catalysis modes and indicate the potential and future development of asymmetric electrochemical catalysis.
