Under ether diffusion conditions the cluster compound [(Et2O)2H]2[Nb6Cl18] crystallizes repeatably from solutions in thionylchloride in the form of rarely seen large, macroscopic, empty tubes. They have lengths of up to 2 cm and diameters of 2–3 mm. The crystal cross‐section is close to hexagonal. Thermal investigations show that the compound easily loses diethyl ether.
