Bis(dipyrrinato) Zn II complexes can have very high luminescent quantum yields upon judicious choice of the ligands. Although BODIPY (boron dipyrromethene) is still a front runner in the family of dipyrromethene compounds with their excellent photophysical properties, the authors show that zinc dipyrrins, exhibiting high fluorescence, are hot on its heels. The authors would like to thank the designer Vincenzo Pani for help in producing the graphical representation. More information can be found in the Full Paper by C. Bizzarri et al. on page 3816.
