Metal cluster compounds with edge‐bridged (6–12 type) as well as face‐bridged (6–8 type) metal atom octahedra of electron poor transition metals are known for a long time. A chemical reaction, in which one type is transferred into the other type, is described in the communication by M. Köckerling et al. on page 18613 ff. for the first time. Nb 6 I 11 is treated with 2‐aminoethanol. The obtained compound is also the first example of a group VB metal cluster with intra‐cluster chelate ligands and a rare example of hexanuclear cluster units with organic ligands only.
