The image illustrates the operation mechanism of the photothermal activation of Ru/Au nanoparticles deposited on Siralox. Upon absorption of light by Au nanoparticles, the photon energy is thermalized, leading to the heating of smaller Ru nanoparticles located on the Au surface.
