Anisotropic colloids have great potential to generate novel colloidal superstructures for new materials through self‐assembly. Typical anisotropic colloidal shapes have been synthesized and fabricated by either non‐templated or non‐patchy templated methods. “Patchy templated synthesis”, as a new conceptual strategy, provides new design approaches for expanding extant synthetic methods and opportunities for preparing many usual and unusual colloidal shapes. For further details on this strategy see the Concept article by B. Liu et al. on page 10562 ff.
