The picture illustrates the potential of functional disilenes as a new tool within the toolbox of silicon chemists. It shows various inorganic salts on the left‐ and right‐hand sides of the central 500‐mL round bottom flask with freshly crystallized Tip 2 Si=Si(Tip)Li⋅2 dme (Tip=2,4,6‐triisopropylphenyl; dme=1,2‐dimethoxyethane) as an example of a functional disilene used in our group as the starting material for unsaturated silicon clusters and conjugated systems incorporating Si=Si moieties.
