Orthogonal orientation of six mutually fused indane units , all of which bear ortho ‐dibromo or ortho ‐diiodo functionalities at the aromatic periphery, was achieved in derivatives of centrohexaindane, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with a rigid, T d ‐symmetric, “Cartesian” structure. This work reports the syntheses and solid‐state structures of these novel dodecahalo compounds and their conversion by twelvefold C−C cross coupling reactions.
