The reductive coupling of diazomethanes on Mg gives a [((NacNac Mes )Mg)(N 2 CR 2 )] 2 species, which evolves N 2 to give [((NacNac Mes )Mg)(NCR 2 )] 2 products. These findings suggest that new strategies to reversible main‐group N 2 binding may emerge from sterically demanding systems that preclude dimeric products.
