Encapsulation of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) by α‐helical coiled‐coil peptide barrels (αHBs) offers a novel approach to solubilize and functionalize the surface of near‐infrared fluorescent SWCNTs. Optical spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy revealed that SWCNTs of appropriate diameter incorporate into barrels of the same pore size. This concept holds great promise for applications of functionalized SWCNTs, for example, as near‐infrared fluorescent labels for bioimaging or sensing.
