CaB 2 S 4 O 16 is a rare example of a borosulfate with a layer‐like arrangement of the anionic substructure and moreover reveals a new structure type with phyllosilicate analogue topology. The publication deals with a facile synthesis of the title compound from the solution of fuming sulfuric acid in torch sealed glass ampoules, X‐ray single‐crystal and powder diffraction as well as theoretical studies of structure, bonding, and spectroscopy.
