The urgency for the development of more sustainable and environmentally friendly reaction methodologies has been translated into increasing effort towards metal‐free C−H bond functionalization. An annulation is considered as the most efficient strategy for the construction of cyclic molecules, since at least two new bonds a formed in a single step using acyclic coupling partners. Merging the benefits of both approaches allows the highly efficient synthesis of different important cyclic molecules from readily available and non prefunctionalized starting materials. New strategies and recent breakthroughs for the oxidative metal‐free annulation via C−H bond functionalization are also highlighted in the Concept article by A. P. Antonchick et al. on page 10936 ff.
