Grignard Reagent Even though organocalcium chemistry is very young it is evident that a broad field of applications can be expected. Recent experiments demonstrate that these highly reactive heavy Grignard reagents represent valuable tools for metalation of compounds with acidic hydrogen atoms. Furthermore, addition of organocalcium complexes to organic and organometallic substrates allows derivatization reactions. For more details see the Review article by M. Westerhausen et al. on page 1456 ff.
