Carbonate Halides Three new carbonate halides, Cs 3 Pb 2 (CO 3 ) 3 I (CPCI), KBa 2 (CO 3 ) 2 F (KBCF), and RbBa 2 (CO 3 ) 2 F (RBCF) are reported by Y. Yang, Z. Yang, S. Pan et al. in their Full Paper on page 2944 ff. CPCI features a 2D layered structure, which, owing to the arrangement of CO 3 units and the stereoactive Pb 2+ , displays moderate birefringence. KBCF and RBCF adopt a honeycomb‐like framework. Through comparison of these structures with other carbonate fluorides, it is illustrated that the quantity and distribution of O atoms and the position of divalent cations play essential roles in determining the arrangement of CO 3 groups.
