Chiral self‐recognition between stereogenic tetrapalladium units, [Pd 4 ( rac ‐dpmppm) 2 ] 2+ (( RR ) 2 , ( SS ) 2 ) and [Pd 4 ( meso ‐dpmppm) 2 ] 2+ (( RS ) 2 ) {dpmppm=[(Ph 2 PCH 2 )PhP] 2 CH 2 }, afforded Pd 8 chains supported by homochiral dpmppm ligands, [Pd 8 (rac‐dpmppm) 4 ] 4+ (( RR ) 4 , ( SS ) 4 ) and [Pd 8 (meso‐dpmppm) 4 ] 4+ (( RS ) 2 ( SR ) 2 , ( SR ) 2 ( RS ) 2 ). Among ten possible stereoisomers, only four Pd 8 chains were thermodynamically self‐aligned; the C 2 chiral structure of the chain is determined by the configuration of the P centers inside.
