Women are still underrepresented in the so‐called “hard” fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In this Guest Editorial, H. Nimmesgern, Chairwoman of the Arbeitskreis Chancengleichheit in der Chemie (AKCC), a working group of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), describes the challenges women in science face and organizations that have been set up to help them in their research careers.
