Metalations of meso ‐aryl‐substituted rubyrin with Co II , Rh I , and Ir III give non‐twisted Hückel conformations, as shown by T. Soya and A. Osuka in their Communication on page 10639 ff. The bis‐Co II complex displays antiaromatic character, whereas the bis‐Rh I complex and mono‐Ir III complexes exhibit aromatic characters, despite their highly distorted conjugated networks. The Co II complex also shows antiferromagnetic coupling between two Co II ions via the bridging acetoxy groups.
