Borates Borates with isolated BO groups attract interest because they can possess excellent properties, especially if the isolated group is aligned. Although many borates are built from isolated BO groups, only a few examples are reported to contain two or more kinds of isolated BO groups. In their Communication on page 1414 ff., M. Zhang, S. Pan et al. demonstrate two isomorphic borates with isolated B 5 O 10 and B 7 O 14 groups and explore the similar topological structures of coexisting isolated BO groups based on reported examples.
