Concise two one‐pot syntheses of tryptophan‐based dimeric diketopiperazine alkaloids have been accomplished by using the bio‐inspired dimerization reaction of tryptophan derivatives in water as the key step. Eleven natural products are obtained by using the developed simple protocols with different amino acids. In addition, some of these synthetic alkaloids are discovered as new drug candidates for cancer therapy or atherosclerosis therapy. More information can be found in the Full Paper by H.
