The development of luminescent lanthanide complexes with improved brightness and stability holds great promise for the production of new multifunctional probes for biochemical and biomedical purposes. From the practical point of view, the shift of the excitation wavelength from medium UV towards the visible region is fundamental to make the luminophores optically compatible with low‐cost polymeric materials. In addition to these features, the fluorene‐ and spirobifluorene‐based europium antenna complexes presented herein exhibit high color purity and water solubility, and are clearly detectable in very diluted solutions (ca. 10 p M ).
