Metallaaromatics are organometallic compounds derived from formal replacement of a carbon atom in organic aromatics with an isolobal transition‐metal fragment. As a model compound for metallaaromatics, metallabenzene has been extensively investigated. In their Full Paper on page 4363 ff. , H. Zhang, H. Xia et al. present the recent progress on the synthesis of metallabenzenes by a formal [5+1] cyclization. The first example of m ‐metallaphenol has been synthesized and well characterized. It has aromatic character according to the criteria of geometry, magnetic properties, and aromatic stabilization energy.
