Perfluoroalkyl (R F ) titanocene reagents [Cp 2 Ti III R F ] synthesized via [Cp 2 Ti III Cl] rather than [Cp 2 Ti II ] show new types of perfluoroalkylation reactions. The [Cp 2 Ti III R F ] reagents exhibit a wide variety of reactivity with carbonyl compounds including esters and nitriles, and selectivities far higher than those reported for conventional R F Li and R F MgX reagents.
