Transition‐metal‐mediated CH activation is reshaping the synthetic field and gradually infusing a “CH activation mind‐set” in both students and practitioners of synthetic organic chemistry. Naturally, applications of this powerful synthetic tool in the context of complex molecular architectures are beginning to blossom. In this Review by D. Y.‐K. Chen and S. W. Youn on page 9452 ff., recently completed total syntheses of natural products showcasing the ingenious synthetic designs mindful of “CH activation” and “non‐CH activation” tactics are presented, highlighting the complementary and indispensable roles of both strategies.
