Magnetic nanotubes formed with magnesium silicate (γ‐Fe 2 O 3 @MgSNTs) were produced by a well‐controlled programmed synthesis from carbon nanotubes (CNTs, see scheme). The nanotubes show high adsorption capacities for Pb II and Cd II . An ion‐exchange mechanism between the Mg II ions and Pb II or Cd II ions was proposed and confirmed.
