Methyl radicals react with Pt 0 NPs suspended in aqueous solutions in fast reactions. The major product is stable methyl coated Pt 0 NPs, (Pt 0 NPs)(CH 3 ) n . C 2 H 6 , C 2 H 4 and some polymerization products are also formed (see scheme).
