Addition reactions of alkynes and dienes to a quintuply bonded dichromium complex are reported by R. Kempe et al. in their Communication on page 6900 ff. Both alkynes and dienes undergo cycloaddition reactions in which the formal bond order of the CrCr bond is reduced. CrCr quintuple bonds can undergo similar (cycloaddition) reactions as well‐understood CC double and triple bonds. The picture in the background is the Festspielhaus , Bayreuth (photo by Jana Kempe).
